About the Nothern Sonoma County Fire Foundation
The history of the Northern Sonoma County Fire Foundation is rooted in the legacy of the Geyserville Fire Department, which began as a volunteer-based organization dedicated to protecting the community. Over time, the department's efforts evolved into the Geyserville Volunteer Firefighters Association, which supported the department by funding critical needs and fostering community engagement.
In 1996, the Geyserville Fire Department became the Geyserville Fire Protection District, marking a significant expansion of its responsibilities. The Volunteer Firefighters Association stepped up to support these changes, providing essential funding for equipment, training, and other resources. This commitment continued as the District grew into the Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District in 2019, leading to the rebranding of the support group as the Northern Sonoma County Fire Foundation.
Today, the Foundation carries forward this legacy, providing critical funding for modern firefighting equipment, supporting firefighter training and wellness programs, and promoting vital vegetation management efforts to reduce wildfire risks. These initiatives ensure that the region’s fire services are equipped to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex landscape of emergencies.
In addition to its operational support, the Foundation fosters a strong connection with the community through events and fundraisers. Signature events like Wine Country to the Rescue and the beloved Pancake Breakfast bring the community together to celebrate and support the firefighters who serve them. These gatherings raise essential funds while strengthening the bond between residents and their fire services.
The Northern Sonoma County Fire Foundation reflects the spirit of its origins—community-driven support, innovation, and dedication to public safety. Through its efforts, the Foundation ensures that firefighters have the tools and resources they need while fostering a proactive and resilient community.
